Ajax look to brush aside surging Arrows

Cape Town - Golden Arrows will look to continue their strong form in the Absa Premiership when they host Ajax Cape Town at King Zwelithini Stadium.

Arrows claimed a second successive league win when they defeated Free State Stars 3-1 away on January 9.

The Durban side has claimed 10 points from five home matches this season.

Abafana Bes’thende are placed sixth on the Absa Premiership log with 20 points from 12 matches.

Ajax saw their winless streak in the league extended to seven matches when they drew 2-2 at home to Bloemfontein Celtic on January 8.

The Cape side has claimed zero points from three away matches this season.

The Urban Warriors are placed 11th on the Absa Premiership log with 12 points from 11 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Arrows and Ajax have met in 28 league matches since 2000/01.

The Urban Warriors have 10 wins compared to seven for Abafana Bes’thende, while 11 matches have been drawn.

Arrows have won six of their 14 home matches, suffering four defeats in the process.

When the teams last met in the 2013/14 season, they played to two draws: 1-1 in KwaZulu-Natal and 2-2 in the return game in the Western Cape.

The teams’ last five league meetings have produced 16 goals.

Kick-off is at 18:00 Wednesday, January 13.
