Cape Town - Sagrada knew they needed a result and got to work straight away, nearly capitalising on a defensive error in the fifth minute, only to be denied by Brandon Petersen.
Ajax grew into the game a bit and worked the ball forward well, but were lacking the final ball into the box to really threaten the Sagrada goal.
And they were made to rue their offensive struggles when Sagrada took the lead and leveled the tie 2-2 on aggregate through Cabungula in the 23rd minute.
Toriq Losper then had two great chances well saved by the Sagrada goalkeeper on the half-hour mark, before Bantu Mzwakali had a penalty shout turned down.
After the break, Franklin Cale came close to an opener when he flashed a fierce effort from distance just wide of the post.
The second-half was more of the same and the first real chance of note arrived in the 84th minute when Mzwakali headed just over the bar from a Riyaad Norodien cross.
There was a late chance for Losper when he broke through the defence and fired off a shot, but was only able to fire wide of the mark in the 88th minute.
And there was late heartbreak for Ajax as Cabungula grabbed his second of the game to give Sagrada the win.
