Ajax CT striker keen on Chiefs move

Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town striker Prince Nxumalo is said to be keen on making a switch to Kaizer Chiefs in the January transfer window.

There has been no official word from either camp, although Chiefs coach Steve Komphela has said several times this season that he is on the lookout for forwards.

Nxumalo is into his third season with Ajax, having netted 18 goals in 46 league matches over the previous two seasons.

Last season though he managed only five, compared to 13 the season before.

The 27-year-old has only featured in six league matches this term, only two of those starts, netting twice.

According to a source quoted by the Citizen website, he is hoping to secure a move to the Glamour Boys.

"We all know his capabilities and if he is treated well, he can be a lethal striker. But he is unhappy at Ajax and has made it known to his handlers that they should look at other options for him.

"They have approached Chiefs and they seemed interested but nothing has been agreed as yet," claimed the source.

Coincidently, Chiefs and Ajax are set to meet in an Absa Premiership clash at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 20:15.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
