Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town have announced that Platinum Stars defender Isaac Nhlapo will join them for the start of the 2017/18 season.
Nhlapo, 26, has been with Dikwena since 2014 after arriving from second tier side Thanda Royal Zulu and the tough-tackling central defender has only one Bafana Bafana cap.
With his contract at Dikwena coming to end upon the completion of the 2016/17 season, the Urban Warriors have moved quickly to secure his services - much to the delight of club's chairpreson, Ari Efstathiou.
"Good centre-backs are extremely hard to find in South Africa and when someone of Isaac's calibre becomes available on a free; it was it's an easy decision," he told the club's official website.
"It was one position that we wanted to strengthen in the January transfer window. It is unfortunate that we haven't been able to bring him to the club for the second half of this season, but it's great that we can start to strengthen strengthening the squad early for the 2017/18 season.
"After speaking to him, he seems raring to go and would love to join the club straight away."
Nhlapo may well end up being a replacement for Ajax's highly-rated 20-year-old Bafana central defender Rivaldo Coetzee, should he depart for Europe at some point.
