Aces target Polokwane's scalp

Cape Town - Black Aces will look to continue their winning streak in the Absa Premiership when they host Polokwane City at Mbombela Stadium.

Aces recorded a third successive win when they beat Ajax Cape Town 1-0 at home on December 19.

The Mpumalanga club has claimed 14 points from six home matches this season.

AmaZayoni are placed third on the Absa Premiership log with 24 points from 12 matches.

Polokwane saw their winning streak cut short to two games after a 1-0 loss at Golden Arrows on December 19.

The Limpopo side has claimed four points from seven away matches this season.

Rise and Shine are placed 11th on the Absa Premiership log with 12 points from as many matches.

In head-to-head stats, Aces and Polokwane have met in four league matches since 2013/14.

Rise and Shine have an unbeaten record in the sequence, with three wins and one draw.

Aces have lost both of their two previous home league matches against Polokwane.

Last season Rise and Shine took four points off AmaZayoni, winning 2-1 away before a 2-2 draw at home in the return game.

Mbesuma, Mncwango and Tlolane all scored a goal in each of the teams’ two league meetings last season.

Kick-off is at 20:15 on Saturday, January 9.
