Zwane calls time on career

Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs's veteran midfielder Arthur Zwane has decided to call time on his playing career.

The 37-year-old, who has been a bit-part player at the Soweto giants this term, has decided to hang up his boots after 10 years successful years with the Naturena outfit.

The Soweto-born player joined Amakhosi from Tembisa Classic in 2000 and went on to make 244 appearances for the Glamour Boys helping the club to the 2003/2004 and 2004/2005 league titles.

"It has been an honour for me to don the gold and black jersey from day one," he told the club's official website.

"I am grateful for the support I received from the management, the fans, and the former and current players including coaches for all the support they have given me."

The former Bafana Bafana player will now take up a position on the club's technical committee.

"I am looking forward to starting a new chapter in my life and I welcome the challenge with both hands," he added.

"I am also going to use the opportunity to impart my knowledge to the upcoming generation.

"I am, of course, looking forward to developing myself as a coach."

Chiefs' Football Manager, Bobby Motaung, thanked "10111" for his contribution to the club and welcomed him to the coaching staff.

"The Club is grateful to Arthur (Zwane) for the contribution he made as a player on the field. His discipline is second to none and he will now be working with the first team Technical Team and Development until the end of the season.

"Zwane follows on the footsteps of other players like Ace Khuse, Ntsie Maphike, Doctor Khumalo and many others who joined the coaching department after years of service for the Club. We are committed in supporting him to get coaching qualifications like we have done with the others," Motaung concluded.
