Zulu: My job is on the field

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs striker David Zulu is eager to prove himself to the technical team after supporters voted him into the starting line-up for Saturday's Carling Black Label Cup against Orlando Pirates.

Zulu has been a benchwarmer at Chiefs since joining in January from Chippa United, playing a bit-part role as Amakhosi went on to claim the Premiership title under the guidance of Stuart Baxter.

However, with a new coach at the helm in Steve Komphela and a guaranteed starting place in the CBL Cup, the 29-year-old is aiming to make the most of his chance.

"They've voted for me to be part of the CBL Cup starting line-up. That means there is something they've seen in me that they believe I can contribute to the team," Zulu told Soccer Laduma.

"I can't really comment on whether I'm Chiefs material or not. I have to prove that on the field.

"If the coach gives me the chance to play, that's when you can judge whether I'm Chiefs material or not. My job is on the field of play. I have to show what I'm capable of doing."

Kick-off on Saturday is at 15:30.
