Yeye: New team, same Chiefs

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane has lauded the club's ability to keep the core of the team together following their impressive start to the new season.

Amakhosi saw some big-name players depart during the off-season, most notably former captain Tefu Mashamaite and midfield maestro Mandla Masango, leading to claims they could struggle to replicate last term's double success in 2015/16.

However, the Glamour Boys are currently undefeated after four Absa Premiership games, while they take on Ajax Cape Town in the MTN8 final on Saturday, and Letsholonyane believes that run is down to the club's solid transfer structures.

"Like every season, the team changes players but, if you look at Chiefs, we don't change that many players in the starting line-up or even bring in players that will force us to change our style of play," said Yeye, as he is affectionately known.

"What has helped us this season is the core of the team that played last season, and the seasons before, is still here, and we try to bring the new guys to the level that we played before."

Kick-off is at 15:00.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
