Johannesburg - Promising young defender Siyanda Xulu is confident Mamelodi Sundowns can capture their first league title since 2007.
The Brazilians head into Wednesday's clash with Ajax Cape Town trailing the league leaders by two points with just four matches to play in one of the most exciting PSL seasons in history.
And Xulu, who has shown maturity beyond his 19 years at the heart of the Sundowns defence, is relishing the prospect of dethroning the Urban Warriors from the summit.
"You don't need to be motivated for games like this," he told Football365.co.za.
"We know how important it will be that we win but that's the same for all of the games we have left this season. If we win all our matches, then we will win the league.
"It would be a great feeling for me to win the league in only my second season. I have learnt a lot since I joined the club."
A long-term injury to his usual central defensive partner Matthew Booth has left Xulu to shoulder the burden at the back for coach Ian Gorowa.
Having gained experience from trials at Arsenal and Barcelona last year, the youngster from KZN is reported to have also attracted the interest of Europa League holders Atletico Madrid.
Xulu refused to comment on the speculation, but acknowledged he must establish himself as a regular for Bafana Bafana before moving overseas.
"I won't comment on that one, because at the moment I have one big objective and that is to win the league. I will discuss my future at the end of the season," he said.
"But I do need to be a regular for my country before I go, although I think winning the league would be a great way to force my way into the team.
"There has always been a good opportunity for me to play for Bafana Bafana. It's always based on my performances for Sundowns - if I do well for them I will get selected," concluded Xulu.
