Wonder goal floors Sundowns

Atteridgeville - Mor Diouf’s 88th minute strike from within his own half secured all three points for SuperSport United against Tshwane rivals Mamelodi Sundowns in an Absa Premiership tie at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
 
Matsatsantsa ran out 1-0 victors on the day, but the Brazilians were very unlucky not to pick up a point on the day as they dominated proceedings.
 
SuperSport started off the game brightly through a Sameehg Doutie free-kick in the second minute of the game. The midfielder’s ball into the box managed to beat everyone and went inches wide of Sandilands goal.

Sundowns first chance of the match also came via a set-piece in the seventh minute of the match. Tebogo Langerman’s delivery found captain Alje Schut in the box, the defender’s effort on the volley went just wide of Ronwen Williams goal.
 
Williams denied Edward Manqele from a corner in the 13th minute of the game. The striker shook of his defender and powered a header towards goal but his effort was brilliantly saved by Williams.
 
The SuperSport shot-stopper came to Matsatsantsa’s rescue again three minutes later after a quick break from Sundowns. Anthony Laffor was the player denied by SuperSport’s keeper this time around.
 
In 33rd minute Sundowns again threatened the SuperSport goal but yet again Williams was up to the task. After great play by Laffor, Mushekwi found himself in space but was denied by a rushing Williams. 
 
Williams was again in the mix in the 41st minute of the game but this time he brought down Anthony Laffor in the box and left the referee with no choice but to award the Brazilians a penalty.
 
Mushekwi stood up to take the penalty but the striker blazed his effort over the crossbar.
 
The Brazilians finally managed to beat Williams in the 43rd minute through Manqele but the striker was denied off the line by Innocent Mdledle.
 
Sundowns dominated the half and were unlucky not to be in front going into the halftime break.
 
Sundowns picked up were the left off and went close through Henyekane in the 49th minute. The midfielder beat a few defenders but was unable to control his effort and blasted his shot wide.
 
Matsatsantsa went close to opening the account through captain Kermit Erasmus in the 71st minute. The striker bamboozled the Brazilian defence with skill and sharp turning but he smacked his resulting shot wide of Sandilands right-hand post
 
Diouf secured all three points for Matsatsantsa in the 88th minute of the game with a goal of the season contender. The defender picked up the ball well inside his half and blasted an unbelievable shot over Wayne Sandilands head.
 
Sundowns were made to rue their missed chances and remain in the bottom half of the table. The result meant that Matsatsantsa move into seventh place on the log, while Sundowns remain in 11th place.
