Durban - Wits secured a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Golden Arrows in an Absa Premiership match at Chatsworth Stadium on Sunday.
Tefu Mashamaite opened the scoring in the 12th minute when a well directed header from Nyiko Tshabangu's corner flew past Thulasizwe Khuzwayo in the Arrows goals.
Tshabangu got his name on the scoresheet in the 37th minute when Khuzwayo failed to gather a powerful strike from Sifiso Vilakazi which fell into the path of the onrushing midfielder. He responded by unleashing a powerful low drive which hit the target to give the visitors a 2-0 cushion at the break.
Arrows' only real chance in the first half came when Russell Mlotshwa let rip with a firm drive which flew just wide of Darren Keet's upright.
The home team made an attempt to claw their way back in the second half, and Siphesihle Nzimande headed past Keet from a Siyanda Zwane corner in the 77th minute, reducing the deficit to 2-1.
Wits, however, hit back with a goal two minutes later after defender Musa Bilankulu brought down Sifiso Myeni in the Arrows penalty area. Myeni drilled one home past Khuzwayo from the spot.
Wits rubbed salt in the wounds of their host with a fourth goal in injury time. Asive Langwe beat Khuzwayo to a ball and duly headed it past the keeper who was well out of his ground.
