Wits sign Sheppard

Cape Town – Bidvest Wits have been profusely recruiting new players during the off season and Dillon Sheppard is the latest addition to Gavin Hunt’s forces.

The former Maritzburg United midfielder became a free agent at the end of last season after United released the veteran.

Hunt said to Kickoff.com, “Sheppard is a great player who is versatile and can play two or three positions.”

Sheppard is not the only free agent Wits snatched up as former Platinum Stars striker, Henrico Botes, gives the PSL club depth in their squad as they will be competing in the CAF Confederations Cup along with Orlando Pirates SAFA has confirmed.

The former Supersport United coach said that the news makes him “very happy” and it is “fantastic” news for the club.

"It makes better players, makes better teams, makes better clubs," Hunt said.

As PSL approaches the club has already secured the services of Buhle Mkhwanazi, Christopher Katongo, Toriq Losper, Vincent Pule and Giorgi Nergadze.

The MTN8 is Wits first big tournament as they host Bloemfontein Celtic at the Bidvest Stadium on August 1.
