Wits look for another win

Cape Town - Bidvest Wits will look to continue their unbeaten run in the Absa Premiership when they host Maritzburg United at the Bidvest Stadium on Wednesday, 20 August 2014.

The Clever Boys have had a fine start to the 2014/15 season picking up 3 points on the road against Supersport United and earning a point at home when they took on University of Pretoria.

The mood in the camp is positive reveals the club's website and The Clever Boys want to continue in their fine stead in the league competition. The game against United present the perfect opportunity to get back to winning ways and boost moral ahead of the return leg against the Orlando Pirates in the second leg of the MTN8 semi-final come Saturday.

The Students have injected a blend of youth and experience in their squad. Christopher Katongo, Georgi Nergadze, Henrico Botes, Kees Kwakman and the Bafana Bafana duo of Thulani Hlatshwayo and Buhle Mkhawanazi are bonding well in defence and are looking to improve our defensive record from the previous season.

Maritzburg is coming into this game with 4 points under the belt after drawing 1-1 to Mamelodi Sundowns and a home win against Mpumalanga Black Aces. In head-to-head stats, Wits and Steve Komphela’s charges have met in 14 league matches since 2006/07.

Bidvest Wits have won three of their seven home matches against United, suffering two defeats in the process.

Kick-off is scheduled for 19:30.
