Were invited for Wits trials

Cape Town - Bidvest Wits have invited Tusker FC striker Jesse Were to undergo trials following his sublime form in the Kenyan Premier League this year.

The Harambee Stars forward is currently Kenya's leading marksman in 2015 after bagging 19 goals in 20 appearances, including three successive hat-tricks in July.

And the Students, who recently missed out on a deal for another Kenyan, Allan Wanga, have kept their eye on the KPL, with Were the latest to pique head coach Gavin Hunt's interest.

"I was contacted by my club chairman who informed me about the new developments. It is every player's dreams to play professional football and I will be elated if the deal goes through," Were told SuperSport.

"South Africa is a great country to play football and I believe that nothing is impossible as long as you work hard because competition is tough out there."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
