Vonk: This is our trophy

Johannesburg - Ajax Cape Town goalkeeper and captain Hans Vonk has promised that they will defend the Telkom Knockout Cup when they meet Kaizer Chiefs in the final next week.

He told the Siya crew that though they know it will be tough, they are going all out to win and keep the trophy.

“Chiefs are a good team, who you cannot underestimate them, especially in a cup final. We won it last year and we want to keep it in Cape Town. The people here understand why we want it to remain in the Cape,” he said.

The former Ajax Amsterdam goalkeeper added that the players are delighted to have reached the final and they would not need extra motivation to win it.

“We lost to Arrows in the MTN8 and we would not do the same thing in the next final. We have to win this one to make sure we have a trophy before playing in the Nedbank Cup. We will go there knowing that we have to win, and we will win,” Vonk said.
