Vonk, Evans fined by PSL DC

Johannesburg - Hans Vonk and Brett Evans were fined R50 000 each after pleading guilty to a charge of bringing the league into disrepute.

The Ajax Cape Town duo were the only ones to be heavily penalised by the PSL Disciplinary Committee, which met with the players on Monday evening.

Sameehg Doutie, George Maluleka and Tafadzwa Rusike were formally reprimanded, but the charges against coach Foppe de Haan and defender Nazeer Allie were dropped.

The charges of unsporting behaviour, abusive language towards the referee and bringing the league into disrepute stemmed from the Cape derby against Santos on 15 October, where a soft penalty was awarded to the People's Team.

Vonk and Evans need to pay R10 000 withing seven days of the hearing, with the remaining R40 000 suspended for 12 months.

The duo were also ordered to apologise in writing to the affected match officials and pay the costs of the sitting jointly and severally, the one paying the other to be absolved.
