Vermezovic not a happy man

Johannesburg - Vladimir Vermezovic watched Kaizer Chiefs book their place in the semi-finals of the MTN8, but he was still not pleased on Saturday night.

Amakhosi recorded a 1-0 victory over Bloemfontein Celtic thanks to a first-half beauty from Knowledge Musona, but the Serbian expected his men to have a produced a better scoreline given their dominance.

The first 45 minutes was a non-contest, as the Soweto giants bossed proceedings, but spurned chance after chance.

Vermezovic said: "We started on a very high level and were good, but after the goal, we just blanked out.

"I don't the reason for this, but I told my guys to start the second half in the same way, but they didn't and we will discuss that."

The Chiefs boss felt his players became too cautious, probably due to the giantkillings that preceded the match.

He explained: "Maybe they were scared because our big opponents Sundowns and SuperSport are out of the competition and they didn't want to lose late on.

"Maybe they had that in mind - I don't know.

"But there will be lots of time to analyse this game. What I can say is that players of Kaizer Chiefs shouldn't be making some of the mistakes I saw."

Valery Nahayo, who was named man of the match, believes Chiefs' ability to defend their slender scoreline was a promising sign ahead of the PSL kick off.

"We are trying to focus especially on our defence and today we knew it would be hard for us because Celtic have a lot of attacking players. But we pushed forward and kept focused at the back, that is why we won the game."
