Cape Town - New Orlando Pirates coach Vladimir Vermezovic has finally received his work permit.
However, he will not be on the bench when Bucs take on University of Pretoria on Saturday.
Kick-off is at 18:00.
Pirates Administrative Manager, Floyd Mbele, confirmed on the club’s official website that the Serbian-born coach has received his permit and is now eligible to assume his duties as head coach.
“He just received his work permit and I can confirm that he can now officially assume his duties as Head of the Technical Team,” said Mbele.
“He will not be on the bench on Saturday when we take on University of Pretoria, but from Sunday, he officially takes over from Eric Tinkler who has been our interim coach,” added Mbele.
Vermezovic signed a three-year contract with Pirates earlier last month, but had to watch his team from the stands after landing in South Africa due to the fact that he was still waiting for his work permit.
'VV' is expected to sit on the bench when Pirates take on Moroka Swallows on Wednesday, March 12 (kick-off at 19:30) before he faces his former team, Kaizer Chiefs, in the Soweto Derby next Saturday (kick-off at 15:30).
The Happy People are currently fifth in the standings, 13 points behind log-leaders Chiefs, albeit having played two fewer matches.
