VV praises Khoza influence

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates head coach Vladimir Vermezovic has credited chairman Irvin Khoza after his side bounced back to winning ways in the Telkom Knockout over the weekend.

The Buccaneers chief called a meeting with the squad following back-to-back defeats against Kaizer Chiefs in the MTN8 final and against Chippa United in the league a week later.

Vermezovic saluted Khoza for calming the players down as there was increased pressure on the team after the consecutive losses.

"Sometimes the players are under pressure, and after that meeting I felt they were more free," the Pirates coach told the Sowetan.

"I do not know exactly what the chairman said to the players, but they were relaxed more than before. It was a positive meeting.

"I am satisfied with the performance. This was an important win after a difficult two weeks. It has been up and down for us.

"We have a FIFA break now. The first FIFA break was not good for us and I hope this one will be much better.

"We will have four guys in the Bafana Bafana team and I wish them all the best," he added.

Issa Sarr and Thabo Qalinge scored as Pirates fought back from a goal down against Polokwane City, after conceding an early goal which was scored by City's Tokelo Langa.
