Usuthu to play Arrows in friendly

Cape Town - NFD side AmaZulu are set to play against rivals, Golden Arrows, in a friendly at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday morning at 09:00.

AmaZulu were relegates from the PSL last season while Arrows gained promotion which means that another season will go by with no Durban Derby.

The friendly will, however, give fans of the two Durban Giants something to get excited about.

Amazulu coach, Steve Barker, spoke to the Usuthu website about his disappointment at the postponement of the Mayoral tournament that was set to take place this weekend but revealed that they will still partake in a friendly against Abafana Bes’thende.

"We were obviously looking forward to the proposed tournament which was to be this weekend, we still are," said Barker

"It’s good preparation but since it was postponed we’ve scheduled a friendly match with Golden Arrows so we’re looking forward to that.

"We’re slowly building the squad to what we want it to be. There are a couple of new additions to the team whom we’re still checking and so far they’re coming alright.

"At this stage we’re just working on the conditioning of the players, then the focus this weekend will be in the friendly which will then give us a clear indication of where we are.

"We do still have about three to six weeks before we play,” he said.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
