Cape Town - Maritzburg United are preparing legal action against former coach Steve Komphela, who has not yet compensated the club after terminating his contract to join Kaizer Chiefs.
Last week Sport24 reported United want Komphela back at work immediately if they do not receive financial compensation for the coach’s departure within the next 24 hours.
Team of Choice boss, Farouk Kadodia, said a July 1 deadline for Komphela to pay the money had been set, but the tactician seemingly has little intention of honouring the agreement in time.
"There has been no finality on the issue yet and our legal team will decide what is the best way of sorting out this situation," Kadodia told KickOff.
"What we are getting from Komphela's camp is that the reason why this matter has not been sorted out is because they are basically dependant on the new team [Kaizer Chiefs] to take care of the matter.
"But this is a matter between Maritzburg and Komphela, not his new team. He knew very well that he was supposed to take care of the compensation before 1 July."
