Uncertainty over Swallows veterans

Cape Town - Veteran striker Siyabonga Nomvethe is still training with Moroka Swallows despite there being uncertainty over his future.

Nomvethe, 37, has been linked with a move to Jomo Cosmos while Swallows are also keen to have the player as they prepare to play in the NFD.

A source close to developments told Sport24 that things are still unclear as far as the player's future with the club is concerned.

“Look, things are still unclear of what will go on going forward because we are all waiting for the team to make a statement on who will be staying and leaving,” the source said.

“There are some young players that have been assessed by Ian Gorowa, who has been in charge of the pre-season, while senior players like Greig Etafia, Lefa Tsutsulupa, Tsietsi Mahoa and Nomvethe are still here, but nothing concrete has been said to them.”

Long-serving midfielder Tsutsulupa recently said that he was unsure whether he would continue playing in the new season.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
