Transfer listing shocks Shoyisa

Cape Town - Siyabonga Shoyisa expressed shock at being deemed surplus to requirements at the University of Pretoria after regular game-time last season.

Read: Two more years for Arubi at Tuks

The defender played an integral role in the heart of defence for AmaTuks last term, racking up the most appearances for an outfield player after featuring in 29 games in all competitions, with only goalkeeper Washington Arubi appearing more.

However, Shoyisa has since been placed on the transfer list, and the 26-year-old was understandably dismayed at the club's decision to discard him ahead of the new season.

"I spoke to the coach [Sammy Troughton] on the phone and he told me that they have new plans for the new season so they need someone new in my position," Shoyisa told KickOff.

"I never got a hint that I will not be wanted next season through the whole of the past season when I was playing regularly.

"Maybe this could have been better if they had informed me about their decision well in advance. I am also still at home for now waiting for the club and my manager to work something out."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
