Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela said he is pleased with the progress made by Eric Mathoho and Siyanda Xulu in their fledgling central defensive partnership.
Xulu only joined AmaKhosi two months ago, coming in as a replacement for former captain Tefu Mashamaite, meaning Chiefs' new-look backline still has some gelling to do as they look to forge a stronger understanding on the pitch.
However, Mathoho and Xulu seem to already be developing a strong link and looked indomitable in the 4-0 thrashing of Free State Stars at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.
"I think Tower (Mathoho) and Siya (Xulu) are coming up nicely," Komphela told KickOff.
"The level of understanding is getting there and you can feel it in their game.
"They can only grow from there."
