Johannesburg - Siyabonga Sangweni was named Orlando Pirates' Player of the Season at the club's glitzy awards ceremony at Orlando Stadium on Saturday evening.
The Bafana Bafana defender, having narrowly missed out on the Premier Soccer League Footballer of the Year gong two months ago, walked away with a trophy and a R120 000 cheque.
Pirates supporters also voted Sangweni as their online Player of the Season, a category that came with a R40 000 prize.
Midfielder Oupa Manyisa was chosen as the Players' Player of the Season, while he also earned the side's Goal of the Season gong.
Influential veteran striker Benni McCarthy picked up the club's Top Scorer accolade with 13 goals this past season.
