Tinkler’s strict approach helping Pirates

Cape Town - Clive Barker believes Eric Tinkler’s no-nonsense approach is the reason that Orlando Pirates have been doing well in the CAF’s Confederation Cup.

The former Bafana Bafana coach praised Tinkler after Orlando Pirates won their opening group match against AC Leopards on Saturday.

“I’m very happy for Eric, I think he is one of the best young coaches in this country,” Barker told Sport24.

“His no-nonsense coaching style has also helped him maintain stability and respect in that Pirates’ team.”

Barker said Tinkler will go places with Pirates and is very happy to see one of his former stars of the 1996 African Cup of Nations winning team holding big positions in local football following Neil Tovey’s appointment as the South African Football Association’s technical director.
