Tinkler wants Bucs to maintain consistency

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler heaped praise on his team following their impressive 3-1 win over Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto derby.

The Buccaneers emphatically thumped their arch-rivals in a valiant performance at the FNB Stadium.

Pirates walked away with the bragging rights courtesy of goals from Issa Sarr, Ayanda Gcaba and Thamsanqa Gabuza.

Despite a goal from Eric Mathoho for Chiefs, it was the Sea Robbers who dominated throughout the clash.

"I thought we were very good, we started the game extremely well and put them under a lot of pressure particularly in the first-half," Tinkler said after the match.

"I am very proud of the boys after our good first-half we had to make sure we continued in the second.

"I told my players that they (Chiefs) will begin to tire as the game went on and that’s exactly what happened.

"You don’t become a bad team overnight. Our form of late hasn’t been the best but I knew one good performance would change that.

"Now it’s about maintaining that consistency."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
