Tinkler sets the record straight

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates head coach Eric Tinkler says the club has not earmarked any fixture as more important than another and insists they are intent on winning every game.

As participants in the CAF Confederation Cup, MTN8 and Premiership competitions, the Buccaneers have had a busy schedule of games this month.

However, fears of fatigue and suggestions the club would take their foot off the gas for some games to priorities others have been dispelled by Tinkler, who is determined to win every match they play.

"We are playing a game in almost every three days and all these games are very important to the team," he told Soccer Laduma.

"There is no way we can prioritise one game over another. We can't choose games.

"We have to play and win all games. We know it won't be easy but we can do it if we put our hearts into it," he concluded.

The Sea Robbers have looked imperious on the continent and beat AC Leopards of Congo 2-0 at the weekend to qualify for the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup, but their domestic form has been a little bit more indifferent.

Ajax Cape Town knocked the Bucs out of the MTN8 in the first game of the competition, which the Soweto giants followed up with disappointing 1-0 loss to SuperSport United in the Absa Premiership.

Since then, Pirates thrashed Chippa United 4-1 in the league and Tinkler will be looking to carry the team's current good form into the game against Bloemfontein Celtic on Wednesday, August 26.

Kick-off is at 19:30.
