Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler has praised four of his players for their CAF Player of the Year Based in Africa award nomination.
The players nominated for the prestigious award are Kermit Erasmus, Thamsanqa Gabuza, Felipe Ovono and skipper Oupa Manyisa respectively.
The 45-year-old tactician has hailed the Confederation of African Football for giving the Pirates quadrants a deserved recognition following their tremendous heroics in the 2015 CAF Confederation Cup which they overcame all the odds to book a place in the final scheduled for later next month.
“I am very happy for them; they have done well for the team,” Tinkler told Sport24.
“They have been working extremely hard since the beginning of the CAF tournament.
“They all deserve to be there in this category and I think CAF gave them their deserved recognition.
“As a coach I’m proud of them and the rest of the team because we work as a team.
“I just wish if one of them can go all the way to claim the accolade but all in all credit must also go to their teammates.”
Meanwhile, the Buccaneers face the University of Pretoria in the first round of the Telkom Knockout at the Orlando Stadium on Friday, October 16.
Kick-off is at 20:00.
