Tinkler hopes for refueled Bucs

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler is adamant his players will come back recharged after giving his troops the weekend off to rest, following a hectic schedule of playing in the CAF Confederation Cup as well as the domestic assignments.

With no games scheduled this weekend due to the MTN8 semi-finals, and next week due to the FIFA calendar, Tinkler is taking advantage to give his squad a quick break, albeit not for the entire period.

“I have given them a weekend off to completely forget about football and hopefully they will come back recharged because they needed to rest a bit,” Tinkler told Sport24.

“The break due to the MTN8 as well as the next weekend's FIFA calendar will be very helpful because they players were exhausted physically and psychologically.”

The Pirates mentor said the team will report back on Monday as they begin preparations for their last group match of the continental competition against Al Ahly.

“We need to assess players that have not been getting regular game time,” said Tinkler.

“So we back on Monday to begin preparation for Al Ahly and we need to see where we are in terms of fitness,” he said.
