Tinkler downplays injury concerns

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates head coach Eric Tinkler has revealed he has a number of injury concerns to contend with ahead of Saturday's clash with AC Leopards.

Ntsikelelo Nyauza sustained an injury in the closing stages of Pirates 4-1 victory over Chippa United, while several others were already on the treatment table prior to the midweek Premiership encounter.

"We have a few contact injuries, as you know," Tinkler was quoted as saying by KickOff.

"Brighton [Mhlongo] did his ligaments in, Patrick [Phungwayo] has fluid in his knee. He is just resting.

"Thabo Matlaba is training with the team but we are easing him back so it's still a few weeks before we see him again in the team."

However, it's not all bad news on the injury front, with Jomo Rakhale and Menzi Masuku expected to be available for selection against AC Leopards.

Tinkler added: "Jomo Rakhale is also being rested and Menzi Masuku is a precaution from his knock. They should all be fine ahead of this weekend.

"The media have made my job difficult with this mention of fatigue. As you can hear, my injuries are not from fatigue, but knocks."
