Cape Town - Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler said he has absolutely no regrets after deciding to play just one striker during the Soweto Derby against Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday.

Both teams failed to score a goal on the afternoon but Tinkler does not think his tactics had a significant impact on the outcome of the result, although his team did not achieve the desired result.

“The thinking behind playing the one striker was because of the opposition,” said a satisfied Tinkler after the match.

“We couldn’t afford to be crowded in the middle. I think it worked.”

Much of debate ahead of the match centred around the fact that Lehlohonolo Majoro started ahead of Kermit Erasmus, who many felt had done enough to secure a spot in the matchday eleven this week.

"We started with ‘Major’ because he was fresher [because of a three-game suspension] after the amount of games we have played in a short space of time," said Tinkler.
