Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler is confident that the Buccaneers will beat the University of Pretoria and book a place in the Telkom Knockout quarter-finals when the two sides meet on Friday.
The Sea Robbers and AmaTuks will square-off in the last 16 clash of the Ziwa Mo competition at the Orlando Stadium.
Tinkler, 45, believes that their counterparts will be fully motivated to beat the CAF Confederations cup finalists but hinted that the Soweto giants have what it takes to match the students pace.
“Our objective is to win on Friday and go to the next round,” Tinkler told Sport24 in an exclusive interview.
“We want to beat AmaTuks but that’s not going to be an easy thing to do.
“They will come to the game high in confidence and fully motivated because at the moment every team wants to beat us.
“But we have a good team and we’ll do whatever it takes to match them up. I am confident that we’ll win the game and progress to the next stage of the competition.
“And that’s everyone’s objective in the team, we have been preparing for them. We played a friendly game against Moroka Swallows last Friday, and then we rested on Saturday and Sunday.
“Now we are back training and we are ready to face Tuks on Friday.”
The winner between the Buccaneers and the Students will face Maritzburg United in the quarter-finals of the R14.2m competition.
