Thwala wins PSL top award

Lucas Thwala (Gallo)

Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates defender Lucas Thwala’s great performance this season was rewarded on Sunday night when he was named Absa Premiership Player of the Season during the PSL end of season awards held in Johannesburg.

Thwala beat his teammate Teko Modise and SuperSport United defender Morgan Gould to walk away with the trophy plus a cheque for R150 000 from the sponsors Absa.
 
Teko Modise was named Player's Player of the Season and also went home with a cheque worth R150 000.
 
The other winners of awards that also included Nedbank Cup, MTN 8 and Telkom Cup are as follows:
 
Absa Premiership

Goalkeeper of the season - Kennedy Mweene (Free State Stars) R50 000
 
Young Player of the season - Bongani Khumalo (Supersport United) R50 000
 
Coach of the season - Gavin Hunt (Supersport United) R75 000
 
Lesly Manyathela Golden Boot Award - Richard Henyekane (Golden Arrows) R75 000
 
Absa-lutely Awesome Goal of the season - Ryan Botha (Moroka Swallows) R50 000

John Maduka - (Bloemfontein Celtic) R50 000
 
Telkom Cup

Player of the tournament - Franklin Cale (Ajax Cape Town) R250 000
 
MTN 8

Player of the tournament - Gert Schalkwyk (Kaizer Chiefs) R150 000
 
Nedbank Cup

Most promising player of the tournament - Andile Jali (University of Pretoria) R25 000

Player of the tournament - Mthokozisi Yende (University of Pretoria) R100 000

A guy like MODISE deserve the best no one can stand on his way , i think it would be an insiration for him to pitch abroad. Our soccer is growing but in national team we need our own style not style adopted abroad CLIVE BARKER did this and we suceed (PHAMBILI MZANTSI GUDLUCK FOR CON CUP)

Twala really deserves the accolade after an outstanding season. Had it not been for a string of successive injuries, the boy could have been very far in his carreer. Well done

u deserve it twala but as for awesum goald i think the goal of Gary Goldstone is the one to be rewarded , Teko i was not not sutprissed when u packed 400 000 thousand rands u defended your last year prize for footballer of the year u've so perfect both national and your team GOOD LUCK FOR CONFEDERATION CUP
