Thindwa: Chiefs have the edge

Johannesburg - Former Kaizer Chiefs striker, Absalom ‘Scara’ Thindwa, believes that, based on current form,  Amakhosi have a slight edge over Orlando Pirates going into Saturday’s Soweto derby.

Kick-off is at 15:30 at the FNB Stadium.

According to the Soccer-Laduma website, Thindwa, who spent eight years with Chiefs having joined them from Swaziland side, Bulembu Young Aces, in 1985, believes Amakhosi’s consistent form, both in the league and the Champions League gives them an edge against Pirates.

“VV (Vladimir Vermezovic) has just joined Pirates, so he won’t have enough time to prepare for the game against Chiefs. What’s even worse for him is that he is playing another derby against Swallows during the week. So based on that and Chiefs' consistency this season, I think Chiefs are favourites to win the derby,” Thindwa told the crew.

“Having said that, derbies have, over the years, proved to be difficult to predict, so anything is possible on the day. Even a draw is a possibility in this game,” added Thindwa..
