Mpumalanga - The Absa Premiership match between Thanda Royal Zulu and AmaZulu at the Mpumalanga Stadium was abandoned just before kick-off on Sunday.
This was due to thick fog and heavy mist that prevailed around the venue which made visibility on the field virtually impossible.
Match Referee, Lwandile Mfiki, in consultation with match commissioner, Mark Lindon abandoned the match as conditions were unsafe for playing.
“Both coaches were comfortable with the decision and we also had to think about the spectators as visibility was so bad that they could not see the field of play,” said Lindon.
According to the rules of the League, the following will apply:
Rule 8.14 states that if a match is abandoned through weather or state of the pitch, the League will set another date on which the match will be played. All records of an abandoned match will be expunged except that any cautions or dismissals that occurred will remain in force. In the event of a replayed match the League will be responsible for all reasonable costs incurred.
PSL General Manager: Football, Ace Ncobo has confirmed that this match will be replayed on Wednesday, 4 February 2009.
The kick-off time and venue will remain the same.
