Johannesburg - Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Teko Modise seems to be on his way to rediscovering the form that won him the PSL Player of the Year two years in a row.
The skilful player has been a marvel to watch for Swazi supporters
while the team has been in camp in Swaziland. In the four friendly games
they have played, he scored one goal and created two for his teammate
Nyasha Mushekwi and Musa Nyatama.
New Sundowns coach Johan Neeskens spoke to the Siya crew from the Royal
Swazi Hotel and said the former Orlando Pirates playmaker will come
good this season.
Neeskens said that what Modise needs is a coach who believes in him and who will encourage him.
“We are playing as a team and every player in the team is an important
part. But yes if you look at the touches he (Modise) showed here, then
you would have seen that he will have a great season.
"What we all need is support from our team-mates and technical team and
the belief in the player that he can do what you want him to do. Modise
has a great football brain and I know he will be doing just fine this
season together with the other players.
"All in all we had a very good training session here and we will keep
on training until the first game. I'm happy with the way the players are
responding and I have always said, we want to win trophies for the
team,” said the Dutch legend.
Sundowns finish their pre-season training with a friendly against Jomo
Cosmos on Saturday when they play in the Mopani Mayor’s Charity Cup.
