Team of Choice ready to surprise Chiefs

Pietermaritzburg - Ahead of their 2015/16 season opener against the defending champions Kaizer Chiefs, Maritzburg United’s newly-appointed coach Mandla Ncikazi said that the best time to face the Glamour Boys is at the beginning of the season.

The "Team of Choice" will commence their season against Amakhosi in the MTN8 quarter-finals at the FNB Stadium next Wednesday.

“Playing against Kaizer Chiefs in the first game will be a big motivation for our players," said Ncikazi.

“They (Chiefs) are one of the best clubs on the continent without doubt and again we are going to compete against our former coach Steve Komphela who is also my former mentor.

The 46-year-old tactician believes that facing his former mentor will be a big motivation for the KwaZulu-Natal-based outfit.

“I respect him because he is a true professional but coming back to the game, Chiefs are not invincible to be honest.

“Steve (Komphela) is still new at Chiefs and he still has to implement a new philosophy at the club.

Ncikazi also fired a strong warning to the Soweto giants, saying that his troops will have few surprises for them in the encounter.

“I think that we’ll have few surprises for them come match day.”
