Johannesburg - After overhauling Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 Final, Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter now targets Telkom Knockout triumph.

According to Kickoff, the 61-year-old admits that making promises is something he does not often partake in but he can promise Amakhosi fans that Telkom Knockout will be approached in the same way that Chiefs have always approached tournaments.

“If you are Chiefs and Pirates then you are expected to go as far as you can and try to win every tournament you enter,” said Baxter.

“We will do that with the Telkom, the same we did with MTN8.”

Meanwhile after Tefu Mashamaite’s goal against Pirates handed Chiefs a 1-0 victory in the MTN8 Final held at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, The Glamour Boys now shift their focus to Absa Premiership.

Chiefs take on Maritzburg United in on Saturday, September 27 at the FNB Stadium.

In head-to-head stats, Chiefs and Maritzburg have met in 16 league matches since 2005/06. The Amakhosi have six wins, the Team of Choice four and six matches have been drawn.

Chiefs have won four of their eight home matches against United, suffering two defeats in the process. Last season the Amakhosi took four points from the teams’ two league matches, winning 2-0 at home and drawing 0-0 away.

Kick-off is scheduled for 20:15.
