Swallows fly with new sponsor

Johannesburg - Following on a relatively cash-strapped period after losing the Volkswagen motor giant as their sponsors, Moroka Swallows are back on track with a new substantial backer.

This was confirmed by Leon Prinz on Saturday, with the Swallows CEO revealing that The Birds would be playing with the logo of their new sponsors on their jerseys in their Absa Premiership game against Chippa United at Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday.

"The official launch of the new sponsorship will only be on Thursday," added Prinz, "but we wanted to give our loyal supporters the pending news as soon as possible and let them know we have concluded a much-needed deal."

Although Swallows have performed admirably in the circumstances in the Premier League this season, having upset traditional Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates and cementing a place among the top eight teams in the log table, they have moved more cautiously than they might in matters of buying and selling players.

"Our finances have always been stable and we have operated according to our budget," said Prinz,

"But the injection of sponsorship will give us that little extra leeway in striving for honours and finishing among the frontrunners in the PSL."
