Pretoria - Supersport United maintained their position at the top of the Absa Premiership log with a 7-0 victory over Maritzburg United at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium on Friday night.
A brace each from Tebogo Langerman and Jabu Maluleke; goals from Atusaye Nyondo, Ashley Hartog and an own-goal from Byron Hendricks, proved to be too much for Ian Palmer’s side as they failed to come up with a reply.
Malawian striker Nyondo put the home side ahead in the 11th minute, before Maritzburg United defender Byron Hendricks deflected an Anthony Laffor cross into his own net in the 29th minute.
Tebogo Langerman got his first goal of the match two minutes before half-time to give Supersport United a comfortable 3-0 lead going into the break.
The left winger completed his brace in the 71st minute when he beat Walters from close range after receiving a cross from Jabu Maluleke.
Maluleke then turned from provider to scorer in the 76th minute and completed his brace five minutes later on a night where Gavin Hunt’s men displayed some clinical finishing.
Ashley Hartog put the final nail in the coffin in the 85th minute with a great strike from 18 yards out, leaving Maritzburg United goalkeeper Shu-Aib Walters with no chance.
It was a dominant performance from the former league champions as they outclassed their opponents to become the only unbeaten side in the Absa Premiership this season.
