Supersport, Stars share spoils

Johannesburg - Platinum Stars hosted SuperSport United in what was a tame goalless 0-0 draw in their Absa Premiership match at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

For the first hour of the match, neither side looked like scoring with Stars failing to make use of their home ground advantage.

SuperSport created more chances but never really troubled Dino Visser in the Stars goal.

The visitors had more possession but coach Gavin Hunt became increasingly frustrated with their poor finishing.

In the 64th minute Hunt brought on Kermit Erasmus for Jabu Maluleke in the hope snatching a goal.

The best chance of the game fell to Stars in the 79th minute. They were awarded a direct free kick on the edge of the box. Mduduzi Nyanda took the shot but drove it straight into the wall, as the game was destined not to see a goal.

Going into the game, both teams were locked on 27 points on the log and add one point to their tally with the result, with Stars one position behind in 12th place on goal difference.
