Durban - New Golden Arrows coach Ernst Middendorp got his tenure off to a perfect start when his side secured a 4-2 win against SuperSport United in an Absa Premiership match at the Chatsworth stadium on Wednesday night.
The visitors went into the interval with a 2-1 advantage and looked determined to return to Pretoria with a rare away win. But Arrows' Zambian striker, Collins Mbesuma, had other ideas and was easily the most outstanding player in the contest.
Not only did he pull his team back into the contest, but each time they fell behind he was able to supply inch perfect passed to Bryce Moon who drilled home their third goal in the 80th minute.
Two minutes later Siyabonga Sangweni bagged three points for the hosts when he headed home Norikazu Murakami's corner kick.
SuperSport had taken the lead in the sixth minute when Morgan Gould rose majestically to head in Jabu Maluleke's cross from the right flank.
Mbesuma got his first of the evening in the 24th minute when he bundled the ball over the away team's goalline during a scramble in the penalty area.
The visitors hit back through a counter attacking move five minutes later.
Maluleke played another telling cross into the Arrows box which was headed home by Teboho Langerman.
Just after the break, Mbesuma missed from the penalty spot.
Rowen Fernadez made a spectacular save to keep his team in front, but he had no answer when Mbesuma beat a defender and fired past him in the 62nd minute.
