SuperSport take on Swallows

Johannesburg - SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt will be hoping for a change in fortune when his team takes on a struggling Moroka Swallows side in their Premiership match in Dobsonville on Friday.

Hunt’s men have won just a single game - the fewest of any team - in their league campaign to date. They have drawn 11 of their 13 matches this season.

"Of the 11 draws, we should have won eight games at least," Hunt told website 411.com earlier in the week.

"We were unlucky here and there, so where would those wins have taken us?"

Hunt said his troops could not be faulted in their efforts.

"The players have done great, there's not much more I can ask for from them," he said.

The squad had trained hard but, according to Hunt, they were simply not getting the results they deserved in matches.

"If you come down to training and you watch these players work, they work their socks off every day."

SuperSport were leading 1-0 in their game against Bloemfontein Celtic on Tuesday, only to concede near the death to end the game in a draw. It was the latest in a string of disappointments for the Pretoria side.

"We should have won the game comfortably. It was a no-contest. We were totally dominant. We had them in their half and pinned them in," he said.

Swallows themselves are without a win from their last six league outings.

They go into the match off the back of three successive league losses, with their last win coming in early October

Both teams were similarly placed in the table with SuperSport in tenth on 14 points, and Swallows one position below on the same number of points but behind on goal difference.

The other match on Friday sees Maritzburg United play Ajax Cape Town at Athlone Stadium.

On Saturday, Orlando Pirates take on table-topping Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto derby at FNB Stadium. A win for Pirates would place them as joint leaders with Chiefs on 30 points, heading to the halfway mark of the season.

In the evening, University of Pretoria play Chippa United at Tuks Stadium, while Platinum Stars host Golden Arrows at Royal Bafokeng Stadium.

On Sunday, AmaZulu are at home to Bidvest Wits at Moses Mabhida Stadium. Free State Stars entertain Bloemfontein Celtics at Charles Mopeli Stadium.

Mamelodi Sundowns, in Pitso Mosimane’s second game in charge, host Black Leopards at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
