SuperSport lifted by win

Johannesburg - SuperSport United beat relegation threatened Moroka Swallows 3-0 in their Absa premiership match at the Loftus Stadium on Wednesday evening.

With the win, SuperSport move further away from the relegation zone and jump two places to 11th on the log on 27 points.

A brace from Anthony Laffor sealed the result as the champions tried to salvage something from a frustrating season.

Laffor scored in each half, the second coming through a penalty.

Swallows’ dismal season continues as they try to find some way to stay in the top division.

Laffor scored the opening goal for the hosts in the 17th minute. Laffor’s long range effort from outside the box had the beating of Birds’ keeper, Greg Etafia, and it was 1-0 to SuperSport.

Etafia fouled SuperSport defender Mario Booysen in the 64th minute in the area and a penalty was awarded. Laffor duly slotted home the spot-kick to make it 2-0 to SuperSport.

Fikru Lemesse made it 3-0 to SuperSport in the 85th minute with a shot from inside the penalty area to claim a convincing victory over the Birds.
