According to recent media speculation, Mamelodi Sundowns are willing to make the Bafana Bafana goalkeeper the highest paid player in the country should he wish to make the move from the Naturena to Chloorkop.
According to Soccer Laduma, the Chloorkop side are ready and waiting to put the money on the table should Khune's contract renewal talks with Kaizer Chiefs fail to progress.
Earlier in the season, Khune was linked with a move to Germany with Muhsin Ertugral reportedly talking about Khune's attributes with the techincal director of German side Hanover 97.
That rumour has since cooled down while the Chiefs number one recovers from a Grade 3 stress fracture to his ankle.
Khune is scheduled to return for Amakhosi in early October while Brilliant Khuzwayo continues to stand in for him at the Glamour Boys.
Khune will be absent when Kaizer Chiefs go in search of the season's first major pieces of silverware in the form of the MTN8 Cup. They will need to get past arch-rivals Orlando Pirates at the Moses Mahbida Stadium on Saturday, September 20 if they want to be crowned 2014 MTN8 Cup champions.
Kick-off is at 20:15.
