Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed that in line with club policy, the players and technical team will share the R10 million prize money the club won as 2013/14 Absa Premiership winners.
Speculation about the bonus payout started even before the league was concluded, and Sundowns Communications and Marketing Manager Joe Latakgomo said at the time that the club's focus was on the remaining matches and not bonuses.
On Wednesday Latakgomo pointed out that the sharing of prize money was policy since the club president Patrice Motsepe bought the club.
“This policy will naturally apply. The president has been traveling and will return on Thursday to share his joy with the players and technical staff. He will join the team on the ticker tape victory parade which will take place through Tshwane on Friday,” Latakgomo said.
The players have already had a windfall, sharing the R1.3m from winning Q1 of the Q Innovation. Sundowns also won Q3 and Q4, adding another R2.6m to the pot.
