Sundowns sack Neeskens

Johannesburg - Mamelodi Sundowns have axed head coach Johan Neeskens following a string of poor results.

The Brazilians, second from bottom in the Premiership, lost 1-0 against Bloemfontein Celtic in the Telkom Knockout final in Durban on Saturday night - their second cup final defeat in seven months.

Sundowns spokesperson Thulani Thuswa said on Sunday the club had already identified a replacement.

“I can confirm that coach Neskeens and the club have reached an amicable agreement to part ways," Thuswa said.

"The club president, Patrice Motsepe, praised him for standing by the club even when times where tough.”

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
