'Downs prepare for Maritzburg

Cape Town - Although Mamelodi Sundowns have already been crowned champions of the Absa Premiership for the 2013/14 campaign, the Brazilians are still serious in their preparations for Saturday's final game against Maritzburg United.

Sundowns were confirmed as this season’s winners, following the team’s 3-0 victory over SuperSport United on Tuesday night.

Surprise Moriri, Teko Modise and Cuthbert Malajila scored the goals that put the league title beyond Kaizer Chiefs’ reach.

The Amakhosi had been hoping to catch Sundowns at the summit of the log for a chance to defend the league title they won last season. Sundowns’ win over Matsatsantsa was the team’s 10th in succession.

The team will aim for a win in the last game of the season to finish the campaign on a high.

According to soccerladuma.co.za, “the team is training. They are preparing for the game on Saturday,” a source close to Sundowns revealed.

Maritzburg, however, are oozing with confidence, following their 1-0 win over high-flying Wits on Tuesday evening.
