Hristo Stoichkov (Gallo)

Johannesburg - There was drama on Thursday morning at Mamelodi Sundowns’ training ground when Hristo Stoichkov, Antonio Lopez and Miguel Gonzalez were refused entry to the coaches’ dressing room by general manager Kenneth Makhanya and security guards.

The coaches refused to renew their contracts with the team and their current deal expires in June. They apparently wanted to finish their duties with the team, but when they arrived at Chloorkop on Thursday morning, they were told they are not welcome.

Gonzalez told the Siya crew that they were surprised by what happened.

“The contract that we have runs out in June and until then we thought we were still Sundowns employees, but today they told us that we cannot use the dressing rooms. Mr Makhanya himself first came to us then after that the security guards also came,” Gonzalez said.

He added that they did not want to talk to the media because their lawyers will be talking to the club’s lawyers.

“If we are not allowed at the club then we have to get our money for March, April, May and then June. If that happens then we won’t have a problem but as of now we are confused on what to do,” he said.

According to Gonzalez, they were supposed to meet Patrice Motsepe on Tuesday but they were instead told to prepare to go back to Spain.

“Up to now we have not met the president (Motsepe) and until then there is nothing much I can tell you,” he said.

Efforts to contact Makhanya proved futile as he was said to be in a meeting at the time of publishing.

Evert Louw and Glen before you people go off on some tangent know your facts well. If you have been following the story you will know that this coach has been in trouble with the league's disciplinary commitee on a number of occassions, he then misses hearings, he says he needs lawyers from Europe, he goes to the media an says he has resingned while the not official with the club. In short completetly disrects the league and the his club not once but as a habbit. Now for you guys to start talking about Africa this, and SA that...shows how ignorant you guys are

i am a sundawns fan, and as much as i dnt like 2 c coaches leaving us, on this matter i am 100% behind the management. how on earth can one report on national radio that he is terminating his contract with you, and expect you to have mecy on him. it was uncalled for what stocki did. he was beging for acontract and once given he wanted a five year one withouth delivaring. a local coach can do better at a less price, any way good luck coach.

Sundowns have lost a very good coach, its a pity they keep on choping and changing coaches which is very bad for consistency however i wish HRISTO the best he was such a character, i will remain a Sundowns supporter but hey Mr Motsepe get sound advice it looks like this time you are being misled it takes time to build a winning formulae

They can change the coach hunderds of times but if the main problems are not solved nothing will change. Seems to be a problem with SA Sport not just soccer, the FAT CATS run the clubs when things fail every one else is blamed. Pitty!

can we not do anything right once we have the power/FOR THE SAKE OF SANITY AFRICA,PLEASE WAKE UP!
Siviwe3/18/2010 12:54 PM
The coache told the media that he resigned before making the club aware, that's unlawful and disrespectful. Motsepe should not even give them a cent, they should go back to where they come from.

Typical of the state of football in this country. Unbelieable.

These guys are going to be rich. Motsepe has got the tendency to get rid of people before their contracts are over and pay them the length of their contracts. He paid R400,000 to David Kannemeyer after extending the contract and cancelling it.He paid the remaining contract for Lerato Chabangu after he signed a pre-contract with Supersport which means Supersport had him playing for them for six months without them losing a cent and instead got more when he bought him back for him to sit most of the season injured. He paid for Josta dladla and Dillion Shepperd when they signed pre-contracts for Chiefs and Platinum Stars respectively after letting them go. This man must be stopped. He has no clue about running soccer. The millions are going to run out one day or if he is not careful Precious his wife will take half of his riches and add to her own millions without enriching the underachievers.

It serves them right, these foreign coaches think they can do as they please. Chase them crazy.....................
Qminati3/18/2010 12:26 PM
And you wonder why Stoickov is leaving Sundowns...typical treatment of assets by our PSL club bosses. He must be Sundown's 4-5th coach in as many years...it's all downhill from here for them.
